Summer Shimmers

Meteorological fall has arrived on queue in the PNW with rain and cooler weather. This is means it’s time to look back at all the (mis-)adventures I’ve been up to in the summer. Actually I didn’t do too much compared to previous years in terms of recreation, since I was dealing with a few other things. Here are the photo and video highlights.

Hiking Ptarmigan Ridge in the North Cascades. Big views of Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan, plus some fall foliage up high.
The point along the Ptarmigan Ridge trail where you can see both Mount Shuksan (left) and Mount Baker (right)
Hiked into the abandoned mining town of Monte Cristo. The red cabins were from an also abandoned resort that came after the mining
The mountains around Monte Cristo are pretty scenic
Bright summer day hike to Sheep Lake. No sheep, but people enjoying the nice mountain lake.
A stop along Chuckanut Drive, Washington’s seaside scenic byway.
Seattle’s July 4th fireworks on Lake Union. Got a pretty good view.
Went crabbing once this summer. Here’s me pulling up a keeper red rock crab
Stuck my GoPro in my crab net to get this footage of a red rock crab picking at the bait and getting pulled up.

That is all folks, for this update. I finally got the treatment I needed for the health issues I’ve been dealing with for almost a year. So far the recovery has been good, and hopefully I’ll be completely healed soon. In addition, I moved to a new place to be closer to work as companies start to enforce return to office, so that took a chunk of my time.

Looking at autumn, I’m hoping we get some decent weekend weather so I can get in some fall foliage hiking before snow starts covering the mountains. Also have a bigger trip coming up that I’m looking forward to. Thanks for reading.
