My (First Half of) Third Year of University

Others

Another year has passed by and it's time again to write my yearly reflection article. However, because I joined the co-operative education program, I only had one school term during the past year and spent the other eight months working. So therefore this article really only covers half of my third year in regards to school terms, but it is about the third year that I spent as a university student. As always, I've been brewing up a storm wherever I went… just kidding. Unlike previous years though, there were a couple of moments/events that were out of the ordinary, so read on if you want to find out more about my third year as a university student.

New Laptop: Compaq A939CA

Computers and Internet

It's been almost four years since my family has gotten a new computer. Usually I'm the one who gets the fastest computer in the house, but this time around the new computer is for my dad. The old computer that he's using is getting unbearably slow even for web surfing and word processing, so it was finally time to get him a new computer. After considering all the factors, we decided to get a 17 inch laptop, the Compaq A900 series (model A939CA). This article is not a really a review of the laptop, but just a short document about setting it up and my first impressions of the laptop (and also Windows Vista), plus a couple of pictures of the machine for people to see.

Movie Review: "Rambo" (2008)

Movies

It's been a long time since my last movie review. That's probably because I don't really go to the theatres that much or rent movies. Anyways, here is one of the rare occasions that I actually watched a (reasonably) new movie, which is the new Rambo film, starring Sylvester Stallone (can't really be anybody else). So read on if you want to know what I think about this film.

Total Annihilation Single Player Walkthrough
Posted by tonyj on 2008/1/26 16:20:00 (212 reads)
Guides and Tutorials

The original Total Annihilation is one of my favorite strategy games. I spent a lot of time playing it back in the days when I still had the time to play games. TA is pretty famous for its large number of units and support for user created content. I originally wanted to create a website dedicated to this game but that plan kind of got sidetracked. However, I did create a walkthrough to the single player campaign. Since I don't want my "hard" work to go to waste, I decided to post this walkthrough up for those people who are interested. TA might be a pretty old game, but it can still be pretty fun.

Hybrid Electric Propulsion Systems Report
Posted by tonyj on 2007/4/24 17:50:00 (464 reads)
Essays and Papers

This is a long report written by me and two fellow students for an university technical writing course. The report was the main project for the course and it took my group two months to finish the entire report. I wrote the introduction, conclusion, and two of the discussion sections, plus I had some part in the editing process. The topic of the report is hybrid electric propulsion systems that power hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius. Our report mainly focuses on the different configurations of hybrid systems used in production vehicles, so it isn't an all encompassing literature on hybrids, nor will it be the best thing you've ever read. However, we did manage to get a pretty good grade on this report, so it can't be all bad.
