During Black Friday deals this year, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S23+ smartphone. My OnePlus 8 still works fine, but I wanted a phone with more storage and better cameras. Here are my impressions so far.

New GPS Watch: Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire
I recently upgraded my fitness tracker. I’ve used my Garmin Vivosmart HR for 5+ years. It works fine for tracking heartrate, steps, sleeps etc., but it doesn’t have a GPS and do activity tracking that well. So I ended up ponying up the cash for a Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire GPS watch, and here’s what I think about it so far.
New Network Attached Storage: Synology DiskStation DS220+
Another tech item I purchased this year during Black Friday sales is a network attached storage (NAS). I want to setup a personal cloud where I can back up data over the internet and share photos and music, but don’t want to store my data with an online cloud provider like AWS or Google Cloud. I ended up getting a Synology DS220+, and here are my impressions unboxing and setting up my new NAS.
Fixing My Old iPod Color
I still have a 20GB iPod with color screen that my parents bought me for college in the mid 2000s. Recently it stopped working completely and I want to see if I can get it working again. Turns out the old iPod had a bloated battery, and a loose connector port on top of that. Here’s my experience bringing this old gadget back to life.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday are just around the corner, which means it’s time to spend that hard-earned cash. New Drone: Tenergy TDR Sky Beetle
Drones have become more and more common over the last 5 years, and I finally got into the game. The drone I got is the Tenergy TDR Sky Beetle. As with a number of my gadgets, I won the Sky Beetle from an online sweepstakes. With a retail price of about $45, the Sky Beetle is a neat little drone that has some tricks up its sleeve. Read on to find out my first impressions of the Sky Beetle.
New Fitness Tracker: Garmin Vivosmart HR
Another new piece of tech gadget that I got over the winter was a Garmin Vivosmart HR fitness tracker. Originally, I bought this fitness tracker for my dad, but it turned out my mom also bought him a fitness tracker, so I ended up taking this one for myself. Here are my impressions so far after using the Vivosmart HR for about a week.
New Action Camera: GoPro HERO6
Happy 2018, everybody. Hopefully everyone enjoyed their year-end holidays. I know I did as I took a trip back to China which I’ll post about later. This post is for the newest gadget in my collection: a GoPro HERO6 action camera.
New Smartphone: LG G5
I recently bought a new smartphone in the form of a LG G5. It’s only been a year since I bought my LG G4, and I got a new phone because the G4 broke and became a paperweight. Actually, the G4 that broke was a refurb that I bought to replace the first one (which was a brand new unit) that I lost in a lake… No more refurb phones without warranties ever again. So far the new G5 has worked quite well, and hopefully the decision to go with another LG won’t come and bite me in the behind. Here are just my impressions and some pictures of this previous generation LG flagship.
