Fall Foliage Recap

It’s November already, which means the 5 months of winter is about to begin here in the Northeast. In the last two months though, I have been using my weekends to enjoy the great outdoors during the autumn season. The temperature during the fall is perfect since it’s not too hot and cold, and more importantly the Northeast is known for its beautiful fall foliage. This post basically summarizes a bunch of my fall season outings with a good amount of photos. Most photo credits go to my various travel buddies, since they are the ones who have the nice DSLRs.

Summer Back Home, and Oregon-Washington Trip

In the first time in three years I was able to go back home during the summer, and of course I was very happy about being to head home during the nice, sunny summer months. This year there was an important conference in Vancouver, and my boss was nice enough to let me stay with my family for a little longer. Vancouver was beautiful as expected during the summer, and my parents and I also took a trip down south to Portland Oregon and to Mount Saint Helens and Mount Rainier in southern Washington state. I had a great time of course, and here are the highlights.

Finger Lakes Adventure

I went on a short trip with a couple of friends to the Finger Lakes region of central New York State. We went to visit several beautiful state parks in the area, the scenic Cayuga Lake, a winery, and Ithaca/Cornell University. I had a great time on the trip and I think my friends would agree, although one or two of my friends may have preferred to have walked less. Here are the highlights with some photos. Most of the photo credits go to my friend KW as he is the guy with the DSLR.

Going Places

It’s summer time, which means I have more time on my hands both to work on my research and to have a little fun. The weather hasn’t been the best in the Northeast US of A as we had a more than usual share of thunderstorms and rain, but I managed to go out a few times when I had the chance. I did some hiking at some nearby trails, and also went to Cape Cod for two nights.

Boston NBA Day Trip

I’m mostly writing about my travels these days. As a grad student, I don’t have the time nor money to travel a lot, but if I still try to go somewhere once in a while. During Thanksgiving break, a couple of friends and I went to Boston on an one day trip to catch a NBA basketball game. It was my first time seeing a NBA game in person, and it was a fun experience. We also explored downtown Boston by following the Freedom Trail. Here is a short summary along with some photos of the trip.

Here, There, and Everywhere

Once again, I haven’t posted here for a while. It’s not that I don’t have stuff to post nor is it that I’m that busy; it’s just that I’ve been lazy with this blog like usual. School has started, but I only have two courses and neither are particularly difficult. I’m not making much progress on research, but fortunately I don’t have any hard deadlines as of yet. In between academic obligations and everyday life, I managed to do some fun stuff along the way.

Visiting Atlantic City, New Jersey

Some friends and I wanted to go on one last overnight trip before the start of classes, and we decided to go the famous East Coast gambling destination of Atlantic City. It was a fun trip, and here is a post with some photos and thoughts. We played around on the beach, walked around, shopped, dined and of course gambled… just a little bit.

Your's truly on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. This is actually the first time I posted a picture of myself for a trip post.

Visiting San Diego, California

I recently went on a conference trip to sunny San Diego, California, and it was probably the best conference trip I’ve been on. San Diego in the summer is just a great place to be, and it’s even more awesome when my travel costs are paid for. Of course, this was a conference trip and I did spend most of the trip attending conference events, but fortunately I also had a bit of time to do touristy things as covered in this post.

Niagara Falls and Buffalo Weekend Trip

A couple of weekends ago, some friends and I went to Niagara Falls and Buffalo. I have been to the great falls before, but that was a long time ago and also I have never been to the US side of the falls. It’s also summer where I have a little more time on my hands, so it was a good time to visit. As always, this post is a short account of the my trip along with some photos. Photo credits go to my roommate HL.
