Analysis of Alvin M. Weinberg’s “Can Technology Replace Social Engineering”

Here is another short article analysis I wrote for one of my university courses last term. The artilce is “Can Technology Replace Social Engineering” by Alvin Weinberg. Just in case your didn’t know, Alvin Weinberg is a famous (at least in the academic world) nuclear physicist who writes articles from time to time, and below is my take on his article.

200,000 Unique Visitors!

Yes it’s true: tonyjiang.com and its core websites (the crabbing guide and smash bros. guide) has received their 200,000th unique visitor today! Okay, there are some websites out there who get 200,000 visitors every month, but it’s still quite an achievement for my humble little sites. A big thank you to all of those who visited over the last six or seven years. I have free time to spend on these websites as I grow older and have more responsibilities, but I’ll try to add some quality content whenever I can.

Review: Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō

It’s been a while since I finished reading Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō. For those who don’t know, YKK is a sci-fi, slice-of-life manga by Hitoshi Ashinano. It was serialized in Afternoon magazine from June 1994 to February 2006 and collected a total of 14 volumes. YKK is the type of manga that is well-loved by some but is completely uninteresting to others. In case you’re wondering, I’m one of the people who loved it. I’ve been meaning to write a review for this series, but never quite got around to it until now, so here it goes.

Analysis of Bill Joy’s “Why the Future Doesn’t Need Us”

Here is another one of my essays written for a technology & society class. This essay is a short analysis of Bill Joy’s famous article, “Why the Future Doesn’t Need Us”. The doom-and-gloom article created quite the stir in the tech community mainly because Joy is a very well-respected member of the tech elite. I personally am not really convinced by the article, although it does raise some valid concerns about the advancement of technology. If you want to read what I thought of the article then feel free to read on.

Review: Macross Zero (OVA)

Today we look at the five episode OVA series Macross Zero. The main reason why I wanted to watch Macross Zero is because of Macross Frontier. Macross Frontier was my favorite anime series of 2008. Frontier featured reference to several previous Macross series, but it has the closest connections to Macross Zero, which I haven’t seen until yesterday (the day before I wrote this review). As expected of a Macross series, Macross Zero contains its share of quality action, love triangle(s), and music, although action seems to be the main focus this time around while the other aspects are somewhat overlooked.
