Bleeding Hearts

Here's more flower photos as promised. This is a shot of a strand of bleeding hearts that's growing in our garden (with the daffodil in the background). We planted the bleeding hearts last year and it has grown pretty tall now (much larger than last year).

A poster design featuring the Blue Genesis mobile suit that I designed and its pilot. I picked a girl to be pilot because the vast majority of the Gundam series have guys as the ace pilot/main character (The only series I can think of that has a female protagonist is Ecole du Ciel), so I want to go with something that's not the norm. I don't have a name for the character yet though... every name I come up with doesn't sound right.

This piece came out quite well overall because I actually spent the time to painfully CG all the lines (instead of using the lines from my scanned in sketch) using my not-so-accurate optical mouse. It probably took me longer to line my sketch than to colour the whole thing. Maybe it's time I invested in a tablet.

Spring has finally arrived (for sure this time, I hope) and our camellias have finally started blooming. Here is one of the red ones. This year's photo seem to look better than last year's.

It's really spring time now (even though it snowed two weeks ago) and here is another photo of an early bloomer: a daffodil. My family's garden has always had daffodils, but this is the first good close-up photo that we managed to get. We have a total of four varieties of these lovely plants.

Spring is in the air, and this is just the right time to start posting flower photos for 2008. We'll start the year off with some early bloomers - some purple crocuses. They are the only flowers in the garden at the moment, but more will be coming really soon.

Unearthed from a hidden military laboratory that had been destroyed over a hundred years ago, that Genesis is a machine like no other. Although it lacks many of the technologies found in contemporary mobile suits, the Blue Genesis possess some unique features such as "regenerative" liquid armor , very flexible and mobile limbs, and a control system that directly interfaces with the pilot's mind. This slim mobile suit was built using a mix of unknown alloys, composites, and what seems to be organic materials. This makes the Blue Genesis much lighter than most mobile suits of similar size and can therefore out maneuver most opponents while on the ground. The Genesis also feature two "tails" coming out of the back of the head, but their exact purpose is unknown.

The Blue Genesis originally came with only two beam swords (stored in the forearms) and did not possess the ability to launch into space or fly within a planet's atmosphere. These shortcomings were corrected by the addition of a flight pack, which can be mounted on the back of the mobile suit or used as a flying platform (where the mobile suit stands on the flight pack). Weapon-wise the Genesis was given a pair of overcharge blasters for close range combat (stored in the sides of the upper legs) and a beam rifle for longer range engagements.

This is the redesign of the Genesis Gundam I posted a while ago. That design didn't turn out so great so I decided to make another one with a new shiny blue colour scheme. Also included the accessories and a back side perspective in there, so this is sort of a stat sheet as well.

A piece of fan art for the manga series Aria by Kozue Amano. It's one of my favourite manga. Too bad it's going to end soon (one more chapter to go, waiting for it ). At least I can still follow Aria the Origination anime for a couple more weeks.

Lines are scanned in sketch. Coloured in Photoshop CS and also CGed the background.

My second scenery painting. It's an image that's been stuck in my head for a while. Looks a lot better than my last scenery painting since I learned how to use textures to paint foliage and rocks. Still have a lot of room for improvement though, and it doesn't look nearly as good as my imagination, but it's as good as I can make it for now.

GAZ - E 18A Gundam Z18:

Allegiance: Colonies of the Outer Region Strategic Alliance (CORSA)

As the 18th iteration of the famous Zenith "Z" architecture, the GAZ - E 18A is CORSA's newest high performance mobile suit and the symbol of outer colonies' military might. As a general purpose combat mobile suit, the Z18 is armed with a variety of melee and ranged weapons. These include a beam rifle with energy bayonet, twin fixed blasters, an anti-ship sword (right side of backpack), missile pods (in backpack), and a combat shield with integrated scatter beam projector and "Razor Edge" (the yellow tip can be superheated and used as a stabbing weapon). This particular Z18 is painted in traditional colours and adorned with markings of the "cosmic dragon" that is the symbol of colonial alliance.

My third Gundam design after the Nefarious and the Genesis. The design pays homage to the original RX-78 Gundam and other "general" purpose Gundams that have appeared in various series. For this picture I used the lines from the scan rather than trying to draw the lines again in Photoshop. It didn't turn out too badly, although it's not as clean as going over the lines again in Photoshop. I'll be sure to be more careful when I ink my next sketch.
