It’s getting to near the end of August already, which means the summer is almost over. I’ve tried to take advantage of the nice weather we have in the Pacific Northwest and go explore the outdoors during the weekends. Here are some photo highlights of what I’ve been up to in the last 2 months.

Hiking is usually my top summer outdoor activity, and I went on some pretty good ones since the last time I posted here:
Visited more mountain lakes in the Cascades. This time it was Granite Lakes,Hiking along the bluffs of Ebey’s Landing with a view out to Puget SoundThe rugged Washington coast along Rosario Head in Deception Pass State ParkMailbox Peak, one of, if not the toughest, hiking trails near Seattle. The Old Trail climbs 4000 vertical feet over a punishing 2.5 miles. I had blisters on both my heels from this hike. The steepest hike I’ve been on so far.
In addition to the mountains, I also did a few things around the city.
Went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Paramount Theater in downtown Seattle. The show was fun, but the seats are a little cramped for a 6 footer.Walked in the annual Seattle Pride Parade. First time I’ve been part of a parade.Kicking it back during happy hour on the shores of Lake UnionAnother happy hour/party courtesy of everyone’s favorite restaurant review website.Enjoying the lake views on a company party cruise.Went go kart-ing for the second time in my life. I actually didn’t do too bad as I wasn’t the slowest in my group.
Finally, I visited the Vancouver area on some weekends. I visited a few places that I haven’t visited in a long time, and explored some new locations as well.
It’s been more than a decade since I watched the Celebration of Light fireworks competition in Vancouver. Definitely enjoyed the show.Visiting the waterside community of Deep Cove in North Vancouver. Probably haven’t been here since 2010.
Visiting the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge. First time here since elementary school. (click to enlarge)
