The Winter 2009 anime season is coming to a close, which means it’s time for me to write some end-of-series reviews for the shows that I watched but didn’t blog on a per-episode basis. One of these series is Casshern Sins, which I picked up half way through its run. I was intrigued by the promise of robot combat and the unique art style that I saw in some screen shots. Casshern Sins turned out to be a decent series overall and here is my short review of the series.

Today we look at the five episode OVA series Macross Zero. The main reason why I wanted to watch Macross Zero is because of Macross Frontier. Macross Frontier was my favorite anime series of 2008. Frontier featured reference to several previous Macross series, but it has the closest connections to Macross Zero, which I haven’t seen until yesterday (the day before I wrote this review). As expected of a Macross series, Macross Zero contains its share of quality action, love triangle(s), and music, although action seems to be the main focus this time around while the other aspects are somewhat overlooked.

The Fall 2008 anime season is coming to a close and although some series will continue into the Winter 2009 season, the remaining series will finish their run by the end of this year.
