New Monitor: Pixio PX32U Wave

I got a new computer monitor. Not just any monitor, but a Pixio PX32U Wave 32-in monitor with 4K resolution and up to 144Hz refresh rate. Most importantly, it’s in pink! Why did I get a pink 4K gaming monitor? I won it from a sweepstakes. Here’s what I think my latest prize so far.

Pixio PX32U: big pink monitor

The PX32U came in a bright red box with the Pixio logo. There’s carry handle on top, but otherwise no much else of note on the box. Opening up the box reveals the foam compartments carrying the parts of the monitor. The top layer is a tray with the stand, VESA mount, the manual, the cables and the power supply. The display itself is sandwiched in foam in the layer below. The PX32U comes with a HDMI cable and a DisplayPort cable.

The box. Very red, very bright

Setting up with the stand is pretty easy. There is a thumbscrew securing the bottom of the stand to the vertical part, and the display just clips into the top without needing any additional screws. There’s not much adjustability with the stand though, only an opening to pass cables through for organization. For connectivity, the PX32U has 2x HDMI, 2x DisplayPort, and also a headphone jack. The ports are below the center of the display panel, and are pointed downwards. The monitor has built in speakers which work if you use HDMI. Buttons are on the underside on the right side of the panel. The power button has a blue LED light, but the light is not too noticeable since the button faces downwards Pretty standard features in the menu, except there is a tab for gaming specific features.

Included parts with nice, compartmentalized packaging

In terms of appearance, the PX32U has thin bezels on the top and sides, although the black color next to the display makes the bezel look thinner than it actually is. I did receive the pink version of the monitor. It’s a pastel light pink which is subtle. It’s not a hot pink monitor 😆. The back of monitor is curved with a large Pixio logo left of the center. Overall the design is simple, and nothing out of the ordinary other than the pink color.

My desktop setup, now with two 32-inch monitors!!

I ended up buying a monitor arm to prop up the display to a more comfortable height, and to match my existing monitor. The 4K resolution definitely results in sharper text and images compared to the HP 32-inch QHD monitor that I already have. Colors looks nice. I don’t have a gaming computer, so can’t really try out the 144Hz refresh rate. While I’m not the target user, I’m still very happy to win a big new monitor, and will certainly be taking advantage of the increased screen real estate.
