It’s been almost 3 months since I’ve posted here so it’s time again to share what I’ve been up to. The warmer and less rainy weather in Spring meant more opportunities to go hiking and enjoy the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. Here are some photo highlights of my adventures through spring of 2019.
I haven’t posted here since my big road trip to move across the country from Raleigh NC to the Seattle WA area, and that’s more than 3 months ago. During this time, winter has come and gone, and here are just some photo (and video) highlights of what I have been up to during my first winter in the Puget Sound region.
Here is the long overdue post of my travels and adventures over the last few months. I usually do one per season, but I’ve been slow on the blogging so this post will be for the last half a year, covering both fall and winter. The most notable activity was my trip to southern China, which I already wrote about, but I also went on other smaller trips and adventures over the last half-year. Spring is finally here, and with it comes the warm temperatures and pollen. It also means it’s time for me to post about my winter activities. Winter tends to be the slow season when it comes to activities, but I managed to get out and keep life from getting too boring. In the first time in three years I was able to go back home during the summer, and of course I was very happy about being to head home during the nice, sunny summer months. This year there was an important conference in Vancouver, and my boss was nice enough to let me stay with my family for a little longer. Vancouver was beautiful as expected during the summer, and my parents and I also took a trip down south to Portland Oregon and to Mount Saint Helens and Mount Rainier in southern Washington state. I had a great time of course, and here are the highlights.
Here is another short trip/visit that’s part of my efforts to get to know British Columbia better before I leave for the US for grad school. This time, I visited Grouse Mountain, one of the more notable attractions in the Lower Mainland area. Located in North Vancouver, Grouse Mountain is a ski resort in the winter and a scenic park with shows and a trail in the summer. Despite living in the Lower Mainland for quite a few years, I’ve never been to Grouse Mountain before, and so last weekend my family decided to go there. The post is short description of our trip accompanied by some photos.
My family went to pick some blueberries recently and I just thought I should write a post about the activity. Since last year, picking blueberries has become one of my family’s favorite summer activities. Picking blueberries is an easy, inexpensive activity that is not very time-consuming or tiring. Perhaps more importantly, blueberries are also touted for various health benefits, and they can be delicious too.
As part of my effort to visit all the notable attractions at the University of British Columbia before I graduate (or my bus pass expires), I visited to the Nitobe Memorial Garden and UBC Botanical Garden. As a current student, I can get into both of these gardens for free, but for some reason I never thought about visiting them until a few weeks ago. Here is my post on the visit accompanied by lots of photos.
Having been a student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver for the better part of five years, it’s rather sad that I haven’t visited some of the notable attractions within my university. This is especially sad given that, as a current student, I can go into any of those places for free. So before my undergraduate career at UBC comes to an end, I am going to make an effort to visit all of the notable attractions at UBC, and I’ll start with UBC’s well-known Museum of Anthropology (MOA). The museum just recently completed a renewal project, so it’s the perfect time for me to visit.
