This is a short guide I wrote to help future students in where I live with their provincial exams. I recently received my scores for my exams and I did fairly well, so since I have a lot of time on my hands, I decided to write a guide based on my experience. This guide covers the general stuff and also focuses on subject exams that I have taken.

Please note that this guide was written for the years that I took the provincials (2004 and 2005) and will not be updated with new info. The exams probably have been changed since then so some of the specific strategies might not be applicable anymore, but the general test taking strategies still apply.

I have taken the liberty of removing my high school’s name from this essay in order not to humiliate the school, but you might be able to guess which school I’m talking about. This is a completely separate website that is focused on the sport of badminton. I designed this site in order to put my father’s numerous badminton articles online. His articles talk about many aspects of badminton, such as tactics, skills, training etc. There is both an English and a Simplified Chinese version of the website, and visitors can switch back and forth between the two languages. The articles were originally in Chinese, and were translated into English by yours truly. This website has also been recoded completely to take advantage of PHP and MySQL in the December of 2006. Now that I’m on summer vacation, I have plenty of time in my hands. Recently, I went out to see the new Batman movie, and I think it is a pretty good film. Even though I don’t have a film class to make me write movie reviews any more, I still chose to write one for this film, to practice my writing skills. Here’s my review of Batman Begins.

This is my final written assignment for my grade 12 film class. Our last field trip of the year was going to a theatre and watch Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Of course, like after watching any movie, our teacher made us write a response to the movie. The questions were is Episode III similar in theme and mood to Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and are the new episodes better or worse than the original films? Even though I don’t collect Star Wars merchandise, I admit that I am a Star Wars fan, and obviously, I had a lot to say. Below is my response, and like all my school articles, I got an A for the effort. Note that this is not a film review of Episode III, but rather a candid discussion of the series in general.

By looking at the title, you’ll probably know that there is going to be some bad poetry involved here. You can probably guess that I don’t have anything good to put on my site, and I had to result to putting up poetry. Below are two poems written by yours truly for a grade 12 English class. Personally, I dislike poetry. I think that poetry is the worst part of English class other than Shakespeare. This is probably because I’m a very logical person and poetry and arts may defy logic and that puzzles me sometimes. Anyways, when I was given these two assignments, I spent less than half an hour on each of them, because I didn’t really care. Surprising though, my English teacher actually liked my poems and gave them good marks. I guess preference is very subjective, and my English teacher either has weird tastes or is trying to play with my head. Either way, I’m glad that I got good marks for my half-ass efforts. I didn’t post it earlier with the other summer school essays due to the fact that I didn’t know where I put this essay. I wrote this essay because I am (or was) a frequent badminton player. This is a research essay written for my grade 12 geography course. The subject has to be some sort of famous weather event. The essay has to be written in “university” style, my geo teacher said. This means the essay has to have a rigid structure, be about 1500 words long, with a full bibliography and proper citations. I did my essay on a devastating tornado in the 1920s. This is probably the longest essay I have ever written, and I heard that there’ll be a lot more of these in university. Damn! I admit that this essay is a bit of a bore and is not as humourous as my other works, but this is a different type of writing. I had about two months to complete this essay, and I had the teacher check my drafts many times, so of course I got an A, and so did most of my class. Oh, if you have been assigned this essay, as my teacher and some of his friends undoubtedly will assign in the next few years, you are welcome to look at my essay for some hints and pointers, but don’t copy word for word, since you’ll probably get caught. Woo hoo, something to do with Shakespeare. This is a response I wrote comparing two film versions of the Shakespearean play, The Taming of the Shrew, to each other and to the original text. Personally, I don’t like Shakespeare at all, but they are always taught in English classes, so there’s not much I can do about it. As with all schoolwork articles on my site, I got a good mark for this response.
